I purchased this item for 1/6 the price of the same adapter from apple after shipping. Works excellently not something I'd beat around and expect to continue working but if you take care of it you can get away with paying a fraction for the same part.
Macbook Pro to TV's HDMI Port September 5, 2010

This is a relatively easy and inexpensive way to get a great signal from your Macbook Pro to your HDTV. All you need is this connector connected to an HDMI cable and everything works great. This really does provide a high quality video display. My son also got this setup to easier view his Logic Pro screens from his MacBook Pro on his HDTV. Of course, you also have to run the audio from the headphone jack to the TV or receiver.

I was excited when I saw the price for this product and thought it would be a great deal so I purchased it. When I recieved the product and eventually tested it out I was very disapointed because it did not support sound. The display compatability is great and works fine but it DOES NOT support sound. Items like these should not be sold if they are not fully compatable or they should have some kind of DISCLAIMER saying that it DOES NOT support something in particular. It also appears to be made very cheaply and feel that when I pick it up that I may break it. For those reading this review and would like something that is cheaply made and does not support what you want, than this is the product for you, but if you want something that works properly DO NOT buy this.
