1 out of 5 stars Total crap!   July 29, 2010

I wish I had never purchased this product. We started having problems with it the day after the warranty expired. We returned that unit (on our own dime) after arguing with customer service and over an hour. They sent us another unit that had been refurbished. That unit was damaged straight out of the box. I wasted another hour arguing with customer service after they wanted me to pay for return shipping on an item that I had received damaged. I am now on my third unit and it is damaged as well. I am not going to argue with customer service on this one. I'm going to throw it in the trash.

5 out of 5 stars Love my Roku HD   July 28, 2010

An amazing bargain. I watch Roku more than regular TV. Great picture and sound quality with HDMI.

5 out of 5 stars Netflix on TV Made Easy   July 26, 2010
Roseville123 (Roseville CA)
Although wireless connections can sometimes be tenuous, the Roku device is pretty reliable. After watching around 50 movies, documentaries and TV episodes, the device only dropped one that was not recovered.
Of all the electronics in the house this is by far the easiest one to use. The remote is simple with only 5 controls.
If you enjoy watching instant Netflix selections on a computer then attaching a Roku to your TV is a must.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent device - not enough video to stream   July 26, 2010
Jeffrey Schnabel (Roseland, NJ United States)
Excellent device, but I was surprised that the entire Netflix collection is NOT available to stream. If I had known that, I probably would not have purchased the Roku. Not a shortcoming of the Roku - just a dirth of content

1 out of 5 stars Poor setup and customer service   July 25, 2010

I eagerly awaited the arrival of my Roku player, after reading the Amazon reviews about how wonderful the product is and how simple the set up. I plugged it in...nothing happened. I am not tech savvy at all, and spent a half hour messing around with the player and my tv to figure out what was wrong. Then another half hour on Roku's webpage trying to find out what could be wrong through the FAQs on the website. Could find nothing on the website that met my needs. Finally, called Roku customer service. You must look the number up on the internet as the phone number for customer service is not included in the set up brochure. After listening to a rather lenghy "prompt" list, I was transfered to a very polite customer service representative who did not speak English as a first langugage. She insisted on my name and personal information. I explained it wasn't necessary to provide that information as I only had set up questions and that I had bought the player through Amazon and Roku would not have my name in their system. She just kept insisting on my personal information until she finally understood I was not going to provide it and I just needed some answers to set up questions. We obviously had a difficult time communicating. Very difficult. No only was there a language barrier problem but she kept asking the same questions (e.g. am I sure that I plugged the Roku into my TV not the cable box). Ulitmately, she informed me that I needed to buy a different set of connection cables than what came with the unit (apparently if you have HDTV with the model/brand of my new 6 month old big screen TV, you must upgrade cables) . By then I was so frustrated with my whole Roku experience, I decided to return the product entirely.
