 Abruptly stops working with ample charge remaining July 15, 2010

I was looking forward to long run time on my Aspire one, but have been very disappointed. I fully charged the battery in the laptop before turning it on, and was happy to see the time remaining somewhere around 4.5 hours. All worked well for about an hour, and then the computer abruptly went black. Thinking it was a fluke, I put it back on the charger and tried again the following day. This time it ran for around 30 minutes before it went black. I immediately turned it back on, and it ran nearly another hour before doing it again. Over the following days, I would get random run times, the longest about 2.5 hours, some as short as 5 minutes. The capacity seems to be as advertised, but the part I received appears to be defective. I'm hoping I can return it for one that works, as I'm back to running my original battery that only gives me about an hour, but at least warns me before it quits.

The battery life is fine - it lasts about six continuous hours, which is pretty much what I expected. However, I have to be careful not to bump the battery unit or move it when the netbook is in use, because it fits much looser than I expected. If I tilt it even slightly backward, the whole thing slides out.
A huge improvement over the original battery April 10, 2010

An excellent upgrade for the Aspire One, giving my unit 6 hours 30 minutes of running time at 8.5W when doing "standard" tasks such as writing e-mails and surfing.
One mark off for the design, though; instead of using the void between the screen hinges to extend straight out to the rear, the battery extends downwards at a right-angle that raises the rear of the laptop by about 2cm. I wouldn't want to try the 9-cell battery that is even taller as the rake of the keyboard is now *just* comfortable to use.

After researching a replacement battery for my Acer Aspire One I decided on this one, and ordered it from Amazon. I generally use the netbook for E-mail and internet surfing, and after a year the original battery life deminished to about thirty minutes at a full charge. This battery generally gives about 4-4.5 hrs of power for internet use. The extra capacity seems to throw off the battery level indicator a little when you first power up, but it seems to get more accurate as you use it. It seems to be most accurate toward the end, when you have less than an hour left. The battery fits very well, and the extra mass of it is angled downward, which props up the rear of the keyboard half an inch. This is probably ergonomically better than the keyboard laying flat and it allows more airflow under the unit. This shape also retains the space between the base and the screen which allows you to get your fingers through there to carry it around when it's open. (Some other batteries extra mass will block this space.)
I have only had this battery for about two months, so I can't give a long term review, but so far I am very pleased with it. I'm glad I didn't go with the larger nine cell battery, as this one gives me more than enough run time and it doesn't make the little netbook cumbersome, which defeats the whole point.

My Acer Aspire One netbook was a refurbished model. The computer functions great, but unfortunately, the battery life was disappointing, and the battery was short lived (not quite one year). I decided to make it worthwhile and purchase this 6-cell battery, and I'm glad I did! The downside to the 6-cell is the extra bulk that it adds to the underside of the netbook, so it's a tight fit getting it into my carrying case. But the extra battery life is worth it! I ran my netbook for 20 minutes and installed software during this time (heavy fan usage), and the battery life only dropped to 95%.
Very satisfied!
